Cassidy on the Road to Recovery AND Riches

October 10, 2006

CassidyThe past few months haven’t been good to Philly MC Cassidy. Remember his “I’m a Hustla” joint where he sampled Jay-Z? That hit the #5 spot on Billboard, but it’s been downhill from there. Not long after, Cass told us how he “didn’t win lyricist of the year, but he was nominated.” If you think that’s a disappointment, how’s doing an 8-month bid for manslaughter and aggravated assault?

But now, in the twisted world of hip-hop, things are looking up for the West Oak Lane rapper. You see, Cassidy recently suffered critical injuries when a U-Haul sized truck ran into his SUV. The accident fractured his skull and broke several bones on his face according to MTV news. Doctors say he will recover, but will be left with a scar extending from his ear to his mouth.

Keep your busted head up Cassidy! All the ingredients are there for you to blow up! If we look to past hip-hop happenings, we see that:

Killing someone (C-Murder) + doing time (2Pac, T.I. & countless others) + surviving a dangerous car accident (Kanye) and having visible scars (50 Cent) = top of the Billboard charts and major street cred!

T.I. Arrested for Hating the Poor and Downtrodden

May 11, 2006

tipharrisatl1.jpgT.I. was arrested yesterday for failing to do the community service that was part of the terms of his probation. T.I., who is famous for glamorizing the fruitfulness of the hustler/rapper lifestyle, has been living quite the life lately. In addition to having the pleasure of being arrested for ignoring the needy and downtrodden, T.I.’s best friend was shot and killed recently. Even though “You can look me in my eyes, see I’m ready for whatever,” T.I. decided to cancel his Japan tour because of the arrest. You have dishonored your family, TI!

In more positive news, T.I. recently won the annual Pharrell Look-Alike contest!

T.I. Speaks at Funeral For Lost Friend

May 8, 2006

A funeral was held today for T.I.’s friend that was shot and killed in Cincinatti earlier last week at which T.I., after some difficulty, gave a speech:

“I’ve held the microphone at many concerts and other situations, but I’ve never had to do anything this hard before,” Harris said with a quivering voice.

“I can tell you that we had a lot of fun spending a lot of money. We rode a lot of different cars and we just had fun.”

Hannah King, the spokeswoman for T.I.’s label Grand Hustle Records, had difficulty speaking as well:

“He was like a brother to me,” she wept. “I’ve been robbed.”

Earlier, T.I. told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, “I’m kind of like watching my life change right before my eyes.”

Member of T.I.’s Entourage Killed in Gun Battle

May 3, 2006

t_i_02.jpgA friend and assistant of T.I.’s was shot and killed during a gun battle in a Cincinnati night club earlier this morning. Apparently, the beefin’ started when T.I.’s posse was tossin’ dollar bills at women, but they hit a bunch of guys in the face instead. These guys got pissed and started talkin’ trash.

T.I., who “never backed down, or ran from no n*gga,” told his crew “Come on, let’s go. Let’s go,” and made them leave the club to which the other guys responded, “Yeah, let’s go.” Then they chased after T.I.’s vans in their SUVs, followed by a gun battle that left TI’s friend dead.

This is very bad news, but it’s what happens when you make music glorifiying gun violence. You listening, T.I.? Or you just trying to stack more paper?
